About VK Radio Trader

Like most hams, I spent years buying and selling gear through Facebook groups, eBay and the occasional club newsletter. It worked — but it was always a bit of a mess. Listings buried in group feeds, no way to filter by state or condition, no verification that the person on the other end was actually a licensed operator, and a general feel that ham radio deserved something better.

So in June 2026 I built VK Radio Trader from scratch — a proper, modern classifieds platform built specifically for the Australian amateur radio community. No more sifting through irrelevant posts. No more wondering if the seller actually holds a licence. Just clean, simple, verified listings from real VK operators across Australia.

The goal was always simplicity. A site that looks and works like a modern platform, not a forum from 2003. Something you'd actually want to use on your phone at a field day, or late at night in the shack after a good DX session.

VK Radio Trader is proudly Australian-made and Australian-focused. Every member is a verified licensed amateur operator. Every listing is posted by someone who actually understands the gear they're selling. That's what makes this community different.

VK Radio Trader launched as a classifieds platform but the vision is bigger than that. We want to be the home of the Australian ham radio community online — a place where operators come not just to buy and sell gear, but to connect with fellow hams across the country.

We're building out community features including operator profiles, a gear price history guide, club and repeater directories, and more. If you have ideas or feedback, we genuinely want to hear them — this platform is built for the community and shaped by the community.
